Of Measures and Men
My Fellow Citizens,
There exist no greater, more sacred duty of the American Citizen than the summoning of his vote for the approval or disapproval of measures and men.
Author J. Washington Goodspeed asserts that; “The candid citizen will hold himself aloof from and above all unworthy motives, and, not narrowing his vision to the things of today, will act with wise reference to the good of his country, and the safety and prosperity of generations to come.”
The Institutions of our Republic depend upon an informed electorate. If an electorate is uniformed, the men and women entrusted to administer their functions will account to no one. A weak and ignorant people can not remain free and independent. Let it not be forgotten that the United States is a Republican form of Government and is not dictated by majority rule, nevertheless, if the majority is on the side of wrong, wrong will triumph.
J Washington Goodspeed rightfully proclaims; “You have no right to close your eyes to danger that threatens your country and say you are neutral; for be sure neutrality is either cowardice, treason, or ignorance.”
We The People, have within our power to rule ourselves for good, preserve Liberty for future generations, and secure a world of peace. May our Constitution and Republic prevail in the 21st Century, their destiny is up to you, the American Citizen.
